RESOURCES
Resources for Families & Educators
Practical tools, frameworks, and guidance to support better instructional decisions.
Knowledge That Moves You Forward
These resources are designed around one principle: information is only useful when it leads to action. Whether you are a home-educating family trying to understand your learner's evaluation, or a school leader working to strengthen your intervention system, the materials here are built to help you move from data to decision.
Key Terms Families Should Know
Evaluations and school documents are full of terminology that can feel overwhelming. Here are plain-language explanations of the terms you are most likely to encounter.
Questions to Ask at Your Next Evaluation Meeting
You have the right to ask questions and expect clear answers. These prompts help you get the information that actually matters for instruction.
How AuSumViv Thinks About Instruction
These are the core frameworks that guide every consultation and partnership.
The Central Question
Every instructional decision should begin with the same question: What does this learner need from us right now? Not what program is available, not what worked for another student. What does this specific learner need, based on what we actually know about them.
Data Is a Starting Point, Not an Answer
Evaluation scores, progress monitoring data, and work samples are inputs, not conclusions. The goal is always to move from data to instructional decision. That translation step is where most families and school teams get stuck, and it is exactly what AuSumViv is designed to support.
The AuSumViv Teaching Cycle
Effective instruction is not linear. It is a cycle of assessing, planning, teaching, and measuring response. When a learner is not progressing, the cycle tells us to change the instruction, not lower the expectation. Every service AuSumViv provides is organized around this cycle.
Explicit, Systematic Instruction
For learners who struggle with foundational academic skills, implicit or discovery-based approaches are rarely sufficient. Explicit instruction, including clear modeling, guided practice, corrective feedback, and cumulative review, is the approach with the strongest evidence base for learners with learning differences.
Still Have Questions?
If you have reviewed these resources and still are not sure what your learner needs, or where to start, the Instructional Clarity Consultation is designed for exactly that situation.
